The Hotbels BTU Award

The BTU (Business & Technology United) Award was established by the Hotbels Seminar committee in order to recognize key contributors to Hotbels and to the glass industry. The award was first presented in 2007 and is now presented each year.

Recipients to date include the following. Links are provided to the press release for each award.

2007: C. Philip Ross, President of Glass Industry Consulting International, for his contributions to the glass industry and in particular his valuable input in the development of and ongoing participation in Hotbels.

2008: Michael A. Nelson, who was integral in advancing refractory technology for the glass industry during his more than 35 years of service with Corhart Refractories, as well as being a key contributor to many Hotbels seminars.

2009: Dr. Douglas H. Davis, Senior Glass Technologist for Toledo Engineering Company (TECO), for his significant contribution in many areas of the glass industry as well as Hotbels, where he has authored and delivered numerous informative presentations over the years.

2010: John T. Brown, currently Technical Director for the GMIC, and a 40 year tenure at Corning. John was chosen to receive the 2010 BTU for his many contributions to the glass industry and also to Hotbels.
